Your Message Goes Here

I stumbled across yourmessagegoeshere.com today; a new site developed by DME. It appears to be technology demonstration of their video personalisation services. You simply pick a theme, enter a personalised message for a friend or foe, then sit back and watch the result.

Some movie themes offer different stories and let you to pick a suitable ending. Also, some movies use pre-recorded popular names which are incorporated in the movie if a name matches the recipients' name.

It's interesting, but not surprising to see that DME are starting to play in the video personalisation space. They've always pushed the cross-media envelope and lead the market across many areas for years.

DME should be commended for their efforts in video personalisation and have apparently gone to great lengths (and expense) to script, cast and shoot a series of short movies. However, the script and video personalisation elements really lets them down. The stories don't have a strong viral aspect to them (I certainly wasn't compelled to forward to a friend) and I've seen much stronger video personalisation effects across many other campaigns such as Dexter, Ave a Word and Bar da Boa, to name a few.

Nice try DME. Please keep trying.

Interesting article. Im pretty sure the exact same thing could be done with uImage.... All you would need to do is just import the output from uImage dynamically as some kind of asset (flv for instance).

What do you think?

Absolutely. At the XMPie Users Group Conference earlier this year XMPie showed how it's possible to personalise movie files using the animation feature in Photoshop CS3 Extended. I've made a few attempts myself with some amount of success; see my card trick and dancer. We haven't heard anything from XMPie since the conference, but I think they may be keeping a few surprises under their belt for drupa.

Some readers have told me that they can't view the movies on DME's site. If you have problems, you might want to try updating your Flash Player to version 9.
